IMPACT UNIT

Our mission is to strengthen relationships, restoring trust, and building a true partnership between law enforcement and the people of Lowndes County. Through the IMPACT Unit, we will increase positive engagement, connect deputies to the communities they serve, and create safer neighborhoods through presence, communication, and service. By respecting our deputies, supporting their growth, and giving them the tools and environment they deserve, we improve retention, boost morale, and build a department where both the community and our deputies feel valued, protected, and united.
1. Restore Trust Through Consistent Presence
• Officers will walk neighborhoods, visit homes, stop by front porches, and check in with businesses regularly.
• Weekly “Meet Your Deputy” stops at parks, barbershops, churches, Boys & Girls Clubs, and local schools.
• Encourage open conversations — not just enforcement.
2. Build Youth Partnerships and Mentorship Programs
• Work directly with schools and youth programs.
• Support mentorship efforts like the IAM Mentoring Program.
• Host community flag football, soccer, bookbag giveaways, and coat drives — led by deputies.
3. Address Community Concerns Before They Become Problems
• Deputies assigned to specific zones will track community issues and follow up personally.
• Early intervention strategies to reduce neighborhood disputes, juvenile concerns, and mental-health related incidents.
4. Strengthen Bonds With Faith-Based, Civic, and Business Partners
• Monthly faith-based roundtables for open dialogue.
• Partnerships with small businesses for events, sponsorships, and safe spaces for youth.
• Work with schools, local organizations, and nonprofits to provide resources for families.
5. Promote Transparency, Accountability, and Communication
• Quarterly public forums.
• Public dashboards showing IMPACT involvement and outcomes.
• Clear communication between citizens and the Sheriff’s Office.
IMPACT Nights
Deputies grill, play basketball, and even host movie nights in neighborhoods — meeting people where they are.
IMPACT Community Resource Team
A team dedicated to connecting families with available resources — food, counseling, child services, veteran support, and local nonprofits.
IMPACT TALK Series
Real, honest conversations between deputies and the community about policing, safety, and understanding each other.
Because community policing is not just a strategy — it’s a culture.
It’s about building a Sheriff’s Office that people can trust, that youth can look up to, and that families feel safe approaching. It creates a department that is proactive, not reactive… united, not divided.
The IMPACT Unit proves that law enforcement works best when we are part of the community, not separate from it.
